Top 100 Leaders of 2012 Magazine

I received the following email this morning! I must be something really special – I bet nobody else was worthy of such a prestigious nomination! I’m going to have to click on the “VISIT HERE” link to find out exactly what “personal, professional and academic achievements” warranted an invitation to join such an exclusive group of people.

Here’s my notification email:

Dear Ken,

I just can’t contain myself – the honor of being selected is overwhelming … I, I think I’m going to cry.

What a scam! I bet this magazine really does exist – and that they truly would list me in it. But I’ll also bet that the circulation for this magazine is limited to the poor saps who agree to have their information included. And they spend only $100 or so for each copy (and you’ll want to have lots of copies to hand out to your friends and associates!!) — but, hey, it beats the Nigerian money laundering “opportunities”!

If any of you would like to be included in this magazine, I’m sure Ashley would be more than happy to add your name to the Top 100 Leaders of 2012 list!

I received the same “invitation” on my work voicemail this week. I have to say this is one of the more creative scams I’ve encountered!
